02Signs it's time

Eight signs it may be time.

General guidance for homeowners. Every home is different, so we look in person.

01

Cracked or loose tile

Hollow-sounding or cracked tiles can let water reach what is behind them.

02

Crumbling or dark grout

Grout that is missing, cracking or staining no matter how it is cleaned.

03

Soft spots near the tub or toilet

Flooring that flexes near water sources is worth checking soon.

04

Peeling paint or recurring mildew

Often a sign of moisture the room is not handling well.

05

Failing caulk

Gaps at tub, shower and floor joints let water in.

06

A dated layout

A tub you never use, or a shower that is cramped and dark.

07

Hard-to-clean surfaces

Old textures and worn finishes that never look clean.

08

Planning other work

Bathrooms often get updated alongside new floors and paint.

07FAQ

Bathroom & Tile questions.

Ask us directly →
Is tile waterproof?+

Porcelain tile itself sheds water, but grout and joints are not waterproof. In showers, the waterproofing layer behind the tile is what protects the walls. We build showers with that layer in mind.

Should I choose tile or LVP for a bathroom?+

Tile is the standard for showers and wet areas. LVP can work well in a powder room or a bathroom without a shower. See our journal post on tile vs. LVP in a wet climate for the trade-offs.

Do you handle plumbing and electrical?+

We handle minor repairs that come up as part of a remodel. For anything beyond that, we will tell you up front what is needed so it is done properly.

Can you match existing tile?+

Sometimes. Discontinued tile can be hard to match exactly, so we will look at options together, including a deliberate contrast.

How long does a bathroom project take?+

It depends on scope, materials and drying and curing times for setting materials. You will get a schedule with your estimate.
